Algebra I:

This course focuses on the fundamental structure of the real number system and the application of algebraic and combinatoric reasoning. Students will develop mastery in solving, graphing, and modeling linear equations. The curriculum integrates analytic geometry, focusing on the relationship between algebraic functions and their graphical representations on the Cartesian plane.

Key areas of study include:

• • Linear Functions: Mastery of multiple techniques for solving linear equations.
  • Quadratic Equations: Solving second-degree equations through factoring.
  • Geometry: The study of angles, area and volume.
  • Analytic Geometry: The study of slope, intercepts, and coordinate transformations.

    Prerequisites: Students should come in with a strong grasp of basic arithmetic, operations with fractions, decimals, percents, and the Order of Operations (PEMDAS). Students should come in with a basic knowledge of algebra including solving linear equations. Students should come in with a basic knowledge of geometry including properties of rectangles, triangles, and circles. In addition, students should know how to deal with angles, area, and volume of a variety of shapes. No knowledge of coordinate geometry is required although it would be helpful. All concepts will be reviewed in the videos and course.

    How it all works: During the Math track, students will have one video (around 20 minutes in length) to watch and one worksheet to complete per week. When they are in their main lesson block there will be four videos and four worksheets to complete each week. Students should correct their assignments using the answer key provided. There are also quizzes throughout the the track and main lesson block that are multiple-choice that will be graded automatically. At the end of every unit, there is a unit test. The tests should be marked by a grown-up at home (answer keys are provided).
